Memex Automation Inc.

Providing Innovative Shop Floor Productivity Solutions Since 1992

Memex was founded in 1992 with a vision to improve the way automated machine tools work and connect on the factory floor. Memex Electronics evolved into Memex Automation is still making circuit boards - but the vision has expanded to include the networking of all machine tools, so that they can communicate with each other and with the computers in the administration office. In fact, the network may be extended to the Internet, allowing productivity and other statsistics to be emailed to a PDA, or laptop anywhere in the world.

At Memex, we can transform every machine tool into a node on the corporate network in a real-time manner. That means mills and lathes can be monitored as they work, which will help with maintenance and inventory control. By monitoring production as it happens in this way companies can increase productivity by reducing downtime between jobs.

In 2005, Memex Electronics moved to Burlington Ontario, where we maintain an active R & D department. From that location, we manufacture our products, provide technical support, develop software and provide training.

Listen to Memex's vision in a podcast from IMTS08 trade show (13 minutes, 56 sec)

Memex discusses at a CEO level the merits of "Internetworking the Factory Floor", applying the Internet model to allow machine to machine communication on the factory floor.  Memex suggests the timing is right for changes so as to automate the automation and poses the question about what would it take to have a third shift run unattended and therefore increase efficiency and profitability.

At Memex, we can transform every machine into a node on the corporate network in a real-time manner, providing the power of the Internet in a machine to machine communication efficiency.
