Memex Data Shuttles - Universal Compatibility

The Memex Data Shuttle (MxDS1 & MxDS22) are hand held memory/data shuttles for the shop floor. They are ideal for applications where cables or standard DNC solutions are impractical or impossible. Memex Data Shuttles use a built-in RS232 port to transfer data at rates up to 115k baud.

For the MxDS1, simply connect the Shuttle to your machine tool control and use the two buttons to initiate the transfer.

The MxDS2 connects even easier, but with 62 files, 2 Meg (2041k) of Data storage and an AUTO Mode for ease of use - its a real step up.

Unlike PCMCIA cards, Memex Data Shuttles don't need any special plug-in (PC) boards, custom connectors, cables or exotic software to work with your existing equipment. The unit comes in 128k and 256k sizes, and now a full 2 MB of memory is available!

Self Contained and Completely Portable

The Memex Data Shuttle is approximately the size of a pager (5x2.5x.75 inches). It is completely self contained and operates from a 9 volt replaceable battery or from 24 Volt power on Pin 25 (as most Fanuc CNCs have this external power feature). The MxDS2 can even gain power from its USB port.

The Memex Data Shuttle is microprocessor controlled and is user programmable for baud rates, transfer protocols and file types. All data is kept in non-volatile memory, which means your data is retained even if the battery is completely discharged or removed! Lights (vertical LEDs) provide indication of operational status and battery condition.

Quick Connection and Configuration

Connecting the Memex Data Shuttle is fast and easy. It works with either DTE (Data Terminal) or DCE (Data Communication) equipment. The MxDS1 has a swap switch which switches between the two equipment types - the MxDS2 is automatic (it senses the cable you connect).

The Memex Data Shuttle has a standard CNC RS232 connector (male DB-25) for most controls. Gender changers and connector reducers are available for applications requires different connector configurations.
